STRONTIUM CALMING LOTION

Specially formulated to relieve facial burning, stinging, itching or redness due to environmental or chemical irritants. The first rosacea skincare product to present the effectiveness of strontium technology, this Calming Lotion is an elegant fragrance-free moisturizer in a 2-oz treatment pump.

Can be used day or night as needed for relief from irritation while soothing and moisturizing the skin. Combines perfectly with other Rosacea Care products and with topical prescriptives.

This unique Calming Lotion contains COSMEDERM-7™, a strontium compound developed by Dr. Gary Hahn, one of America’s foremost skin care researchers and a clinical professor at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Hahn is consulting on all phases of the formulation of our rosacea-friendly strontium nitrate and strontium chloride hexahydrate products.

COSMEDERM-7™ is the first compound that selectively blocks the irritation-producing nerve endings (type C nociceptors) that become activated when itching, burning and stinging occur from any cause. It is highly selective in its activity and is extremely safe. (Strontium, in fact, is a natural element found in many of the foods we eat, especially green, leafy vegetables. It is the eighth most abundant element in seawater.)

Dr. Hahn's clinical studies have demonstrated that the application of strontium to the facial skin can relieve burning, stinging, itching or redness due to environmental or chemical irritation.

This inhibitory action for many users will take place within seconds and with long-lasting effect. For more severe rosacea patients, the effectiveness will build over a longer period but with equally significant results.

Strontium Chloride Hexahydrate

A form of water-soluble strontium that can significantly reduce burning, stinging, itching and facial redness. A selective inhibitor of sensory irritation.

Isocetyl Stearate

A natural fatty acid and emulsion stabilizer.

Ethylhexyl Stearate

An emollient. Prevents water loss and has a softening and soothing effect on the skin.

Butylene Glycol

Preserves moisture content. Enhances the effectiveness and penetration of the other ingredients.

Dimethicone

A silicone that protects the skin and aids in wound-healing. Also a very good, non-greasy moisturizer.

Pentylene Glycol

A moisturizing agent with preservative properties.

Glyceryl Stearate

Emulsifying and moisturizing component of the lotion base.

Steareth-2

An effective surfactant and emulsifier.

Peg-40 Stearate

An emulsifier and softener.

Green Tea Extract
(Camellia Oleifera)

An excellent vascular constrictor that does not trigger rebound dilation. Contains soothing properties for the skin and is a potent antioxidant.

Grapeseed Extract
(Vitis Vinifera)

Tocopherol

Vitamin E. A stable and valuable antioxidant. Protects fat in the body's tissues from abnormal breakdown.

Allantoin

A soothing agent that is anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant. Helps to heal wounds and skin ulcers.

Phospholipids

Complex fat substances found in all living cells. Moisturizes by binding water and holding it in place.

Cetearyl Alcohol

An emollient and emulsifier. Has a softening and soothing effect on the skin. Non-irritating and unrelated to ethyl or benzyl alcohol.

Silica

A mineral found abundantly in nature. An absorbent in skin protectant preparations.

Magnesium Aluminum Silicate

A compound which is valuable as a thickening agent.

Ethylhexylglycerin

A mild humectant with anti-bacterial properties.

Xanthan Gum

Sometimes called corn sugar gum. A thickener, lubricant and stabilizer.

Phenoxyethanol
