STRONTIUM CALMING LOTION

Specially formulated to relieve facial burning, stinging, itching or redness due to environmental or chemical irritants. The first rosacea skincare product to present the effectiveness of strontium technology, this new Calming Lotion is an elegant fragrance-free moisturizer in a 2-oz treatment pump.

Can be used day or night as needed for relief from irritation while soothing and moisturizing the skin. Combines perfectly with other Rosacea Care products and with topical prescriptives.

The new Rosacea Care Calming Lotion contains COSMEDERM-7™, a strontium compound developed by Dr. Gary Hahn, one of America’s foremost skin care researchers and a clinical professor at the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Hahn is consulting on all phases of the formulation of our rosacea-friendly strontium nitrate and strontium chloride hexahydrate products.

COSMEDERM-7™ is the first compound that selectively blocks the irritation-producing nerve endings (type C nociceptors) that become activated when itching, burning and stinging occur from any cause. It is highly selective in its activity and is extremely safe. (Strontium, in fact, is a natural element found in many of the foods we eat, especially green, leafy vegetables. It is the eighth most abundant element in seawater.)

Dr. Geoffrey Nase, generally considered the leading researcher on the vascular components of rosacea and author of the definitive new book called Beating Rosacea, has said this about the incorporation of strontium into skincare products:

“Recent clinical studies demonstrate that when strontium nitrate is applied to the facial skin, it significantly reduces skincare-induced burning, stinging and facial redness. These findings are very important to rosacea sufferers who report facial burning and flushing to topical skincare products and environmental insults such as wind, sun, heat and cold.”

For many users, this inhibitory action will take place within seconds, and the effects will be long-lasting. For others, especially moderate to severe rosacea sufferers with chronic or intense facial burning, the build-up of effectiveness will be experienced over a longer period of time but with significant results.

Dr. Nase, who has long counseled rosacea sufferers to exercise patience and perseverance with promising new topical products and therapies and not to expect immediate results and complete clearance of symptoms overnight, has kindly offered three guide-lines when undertaking the strontium nitrate technology:

  1. The Calming Lotion might take days or weeks to reverse hyper-reactive sensory pain fibers in the facial skin. Give the active ingredient in the Calming Lotion time to reverse and normalize abnormal neuronal depolarization.

  2. The Calming Lotion's actions might be present, but subtle. For instance, a rosacea sufferer may notice that skincare products that used to cause facial burning now don't cause nearly as intense burning and he or she may be able to stay out in harsh wind, sun or cold for much longer periods of time without noticing burning sensations.

  3. Due to the salt nature of the active ingredient in the Calming Lotion, rosacea sufferers may notice transient facial stinging sensations. With daily use, these sensations should become less and disappear.

A special note for the men: apply Calming Lotion just before or just after shaving to ease or eliminate irritation.
